Million Dollar Payout For Mr Ward's Family

The family of Aboriginal elder Mr Ward will receive 3.2 million dollars, in ex-gratia payments from the State Government.

Mr Ward died from heat-stroke in the back of a hot van in January 2008, while being transferred to Kalgoorlie, to face a drink driving charge.

It was ruled last month the two prison wardens wouldn't face criminal charges, despite the state coroner ruling they were partly to blame for the death.
