The Catholic Archdiocese in Victoria is taking steps this weekend to heal the wounds caused by sexual abuse in the church.

Archbishop of Melbourne Dennis Hart has written an unreserved apology in a letter that will be given to all the churches in his diocese today.

Reverend Hart says the abuse can cause a crisis of faith for some believers and he shares in their feelings of desolation and betrayal.
