St Vincent de Paul is reminding people to dig deep for this year's Winter Appeal, which ends in July.

The charity organisation receives up to 500 calls every week for help with food items, clothing, bedding and household bills.

St Vinnie's CEO Lucinda Ardagh says any type of help will be appreciated.

And creationism is set to be taught in Queensland public schools for the first time, under the new national curriculum.

The Christian belief that living things are best explained by the design of God, will be offered for discussion in the subject of ancient history.
